When comparing solar system prices in Pakistan, the total amount is only the starting point.
Two quotations for the same system capacity may include different equipment, mounting structures, protection devices and service commitments. Understanding these differences helps you compare proposals fairly.

Solar Panel Specifications
The quotation should identify the panel manufacturer, model, wattage and quantity.
Check that the total panel capacity matches the proposal. Ask for the relevant product and performance warranty documents, including how a warranty claim would be handled.
A brand name without a model number does not provide enough information for a clear comparison.
Inverter Type and Capacity
Confirm whether the inverter is on-grid, hybrid or off-grid, and whether its specifications match your requirements.
If you need backup, ask exactly how it will work. Check whether backup circuits, batteries and the required installation work are included.
Also discuss monitoring access, warranty coverage and the process for obtaining technical support.
Battery Specifications
Where batteries are included, the quotation should state their model, quantity and capacity.
Ask about usable energy, supported discharge power, compatibility and warranty conditions. A battery’s advertised capacity alone does not tell you which appliances it can run or for how long.
Mounting Structure and Roof Work
The proposal should explain the mounting arrangement and the scope of structural work.
A low rooftop installation and an elevated structure may involve different material and labour requirements. Ask how the design addresses roof conditions, maintenance access and potential water leakage around installation points.
Electrical Work and Protection
Check the scope of cabling, earthing, electrical protection and distribution-board modifications.
Ask whether cable routes, installation accessories, testing and commissioning are included. Any exclusions should be recorded before work begins.

Approvals, Taxes and Payment Terms
The quotation should clearly identify applicable taxes, approval-related work and any costs payable separately.
Confirm the payment schedule, estimated completion timeline and responsibilities of both parties. Any utility export arrangement should be described according to the requirements applicable to your connection.
After-Sales Support
Ask what happens after installation.
Does the scope include monitoring setup, a handover briefing, maintenance visits or troubleshooting? Request clear service terms rather than relying on a general promise of support.
Compare the Complete Scope
Ask each supplier to provide an itemised proposal. Compare equipment and services on the same basis before comparing totals.
